RBFD Responds to Structure Fire at 256 Shrewsbury Ave 1/22/2022
At 5:51am the Red Bank Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-story commercial building at 256 Shrewsbury Avenue.
Companies utilized two (2) 1.5inch hand lines and made a 2x2' cut to the roof. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and placed under control by approximately 6:30am. Members remained on scene till after 10:00am to extinguish stubborn pockets of fire in the roof. Efforts were also hampered by the below-freezing conditions which quickly turned the water on the ground to ice and a hand line so frozen it had to be transported to the station in a member’s pickup truck. Chief Ferraro commends all firefighters who responded and thanks the mutual aid agencies who assisted: Little Silver FD, Tinton Falls Northside, and River Plaza.
